Eighth Exhibition of the MG Tactile Gallery
Miroslav Kraljević – A Retrospective Exhibition – December 19, 2013 – April 6, 2014

The multisensory gallery that is part of the Modern Gallery, the first in the Republic of Croatia, is meant for the blind and partially sighted. Using the innovative methodology of project author Nataša Jovičić, the Tactile Gallery, in its eighth exhibition, presents in terms of touch and sound Miroslav Kraljević’s Self-Portrait with Dog, that major work of Croatian painting of Modernism, the sculpture Head of a Little Girl (Portrait of Ivana Pacher) and the Plaque of Toma pl. Kraljević.

For this one of a kind experience it is not necessary to have a specialised knowledge of art history; the detailed explanation of the painting, relief and sculpture will give you a new experience of a work of art.  The interpretation is primarily meant for the blind and visually impaired, but offers a different perception of the artwork for sighted persons as well.  With an audio guide, it is possible with eyes closed to imagine what the painting looks like, and then after that to explore the diagram or while listening to the guide at the same time to touch the graphic, tactile diagram.  With the adaptation of visual values to a tactile diagram, the Modern Gallery has made Croatian visual art of the modern age accessible to all.
