New Acquisitions

During 2011 and 2012 the recent exhibition of the permanent display and collection of the Modern Gallery have been enriched by more than 20 first-rate works of painting and sculpture. They have been acquired by gifts from artists or the heirs of their estates. From this season in the Modern Gallery an insight into the supreme values of the Croatian modern fine arts heritage has been expanded by portrait paintings of indubitable importance in both artistic and national terms: Lujza Kuzmić by Karlo Mijić and Doctor Pelc by Zlatko Šulentić, as well as by the sculpture Melancholy by Franjo Cota. The representation of more modern work in painting and sculpture has been enhanced by paradigmatic works of Antun Babić, Tomislav Buntak, Joško Eterović, Ivan Kožarić and many other artists whose works are among the classic achievements of the Croatian contemporary Art.
