Croatian Painters in Paris

Marking the showing of the recent Miroslav Kraljević retrospective exhibition, we are happy to invite you to the launch of a documentary film by Željko Senečić, Croatian Painters in Paris, on Thursday, March 6, at 7 p.m. in the Modern Gallery, Andrije Hebranga 1.

Appearing in the film are a large number of distinguished Croatian and French art historians, writers and visual artists, talking about Paris as world art centre, and the crucial impacts made by the city on the work of Croatian creative artists. The film features experts such as Zvonko Maković, Igor Zidić, Josip Vaništa, Predrag Matvejević, Miroslav Gašparović, Ivica Župan, Vladimir Crnković, Darko Šnajder and Mirko Galić discussing the importance of life in Paris for major Croatian artistic figures of the calibre of Vlaho Bukovac, Josip Račić, Miroslav Kraljević, Leo Junek, Juraj Plančić, Ivan Meštrović, Milivoj Uzelac, Slavko Kopač, Virgilije Nevjestić, Julije Knifer and Ivan Picelj as well as the overall impact made by the French capital on our art scene.

Introducing and promoting this film by the production company Interfilm are Academician Tonko Maroević and Biserka Rauter Plančić, director of the Modern Gallery.
