The Munir Vejzović Exhibition The Embrace of Sculpture and the Erotic Opens
On the prestigious first floor of the Modern Gallery, on September 22 the exhibition of painter Munir Vejzović, The Embrace of Sculpture and the Erotic, was opened. The many invitees on the occasion looked around the set-up that shows a selection of 85 of the artist’s works, of oil paintings, drawings and sculptures created in the last few decades. Most of the works on show, apart from some from the holdings of the Modern Gallery, were borrowed from the artist’s studio and from private collectors.
Lada Bošnjak Velagić, senior MG curator, editor of the catalogue, addressed the guests, and in her speech gave thanks to the artist, the private collectors, the Biškupić Collection and Božo Biškupić, the Maroević and Balenović families, Antonia and Nino Balenović, Academician Tonko Maroević, who devised the exhibition and wrote a preface to the catalogue on the authorial conception, as well as the writers of the catalogue essays, Nikola Albaneže and Milan Bešlić. For its collaboration and support to MG exhibition projects she thanked the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia and the city of Zagreb, as well as Privredna banka Zagreb, principal sponsor of the Modern Gallery. The opening was also attended by Vesna Kusin, deputy mayor of Zagreb, and the exhibition, which can be viewed in the Modern Gallery up to October 20, 2016, was opened by Academician Tonko Maroević.
