Der Weg auf beiden Seiten – The Way to Two Sides, the Vasili Jordan exhibition in Bad Frankenhausen
In Bad Frankenhausen near Erfurt, Thuringia, on March 2018, an exhibition of the work of Vasili Jordan, the most respected figure in surrealism and the New Realism of the second half of the twentieth century in Croatian art will be opened. Conceived as a critical retrospective, the exhibition entitled Der Weg auf beiden Seiten, the Way to Both Sides, in the Panorama Museum, a well regarded Thuringian institution, presents a 90-piece selection of the artist’s works created in the period from 1957 to 2009. The selection of the works and the concept of the exhibition are by Modern Gallery director Biserka Rauter Plančić and art historian Dr Gerd Lindner, director of the Panorama Museum. The exhibition is matched by a richly illustrated catalogue in German published by Panorama Museum with extensive texts of the directors of the two museum institutions and quotes from essays of Giorgio Segato, Carlo Munari, Igor Zidić and Josip Depolo. Oil paintings and drawings of Vasili Jordan selected from the holdings of the Modern Gallery, the painter’s studio and private Croatian collections, will be able to be viewed in Bad Frankenhausen until June 10, 2018.
