The opening of the Miroslav Kraljević Exhibition in Zagreb
The Modern Gallery in Zagreb is marking the centenary of the death of Miroslav Kraljević with the biggest ever retrospective exhibition of this prime figure in Croatian Modernism. After its premiere version put on in Požega, the exhibition was opened on December 19 in Zagreb before a huge public, displayed in twelve rooms of the first floor of the gallery, with almost 200 of his most important works.
The exhibition was opened on behalf of the team of authors by Professor Zvonko Maković DSc and on behalf of the organisers, by Biserka Rauter Plančić, director of the Modern Gallery.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue with more than 200 reproductions on 285 pages, with expert interpretations of the works and scholarly articles on, among other things, the big city and animal art in Kraljević’s painting, as well as his relationship with Požega.
