A retrospective exhibition of the sculptor Matko Mijić opened at the Modern Gallery
A retrospective exhibition of the sculptor Matko Mijić was opened on 30th October at the Modern Gallery. On this occasion, many guests were welcomed by Biserka Rauter Plančić, the director of the Modern Gallery, who in her speech pointed out „ …that the exhibition – beside pointing to the past four decades of the sculptor’s creativity – at the same time it witnesses the author’s excellent contribution to the contemporary Croatian visual art. The Modern Gallery team is proud that this exhibition continues the cycle of great retrospectives of Croatian contemporary artists, which aims at not only tracking down and recording, but also at discovering and asserting the greatest achievements of our visual arts. „. The sculptor’s creative opus was presented by the art historian Margarita Sveštarov Šimat, the exhibition author. The exhibition was opened by Nina Obuljen Koržinek, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Croatia.
The cultural public had a chance to see a hundred or so of the artist’s objects, installations, assemblages and creations in monumental plastics presented in the twelve halls of the representative first floor of the Vranyczany’s Palace until 25th November.
