The Maja Sorić exhibition, Kinaesthesis, opened in the Josip Račić Studio of the Modern Gallery
In the Josip Račić Studio of the Modern Gallery, on October 19, an exhibition of jewellery by the world-renowned Croatian artist Maja Sorić was opened. The many guests at the opening, who were the first to have the chance to see the artist’s jewellery in Zagreb, after shows in Beirut, Paris and London, were greeted on behalf of the Modern Gallery by exhibition curator Lana Šetka. The artist, who thanked project associates, was presented by Iva Körbler, author of one of the catalogue essays, and the exhibition was opened to verses of the poem Ithaca by the Greek poet Constantine Cavafy, read by Ratko Iveković.
The necklaces, earrings, brooches and rings of silver and silver-gilt decorated with semi-precious stones are exhibited in the Josip Račić Studio in a display designed by Tonči Vladislavić, and can be viewed until November 4, 2017. A richly illustrated catalogue goes with the exhibition; photographs are by Bachrach & Krištofić and Kegham Djeghalian, with essays by art historians Flora Turner-Vučetić and Iva Körbler, Jagoda Buić and Damir Grubiša, professor at the American University in Rome.
