The Way of the Cross and Refugees, as part of the overall Passion Heritage event
On Thursday, March 24 at 5 pm, an exhibition of students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb will be opened in the Josip Račić Studio of the Modern Gallery. Entitled e.
The Way of the Cross and the Refugees
The Way of the Cross is not a single iconographic pattern. Unfortunately, every day the repetition of the Way of the Cross and the racking of human destiny are visible, to which we testify as we watch the scenes of destruction, columns of refugees, migrations, as well as our incapacity to solve global conflicts that rest on hnuman greed, violence and inability to understand different systems and cultures.
The exhibition of students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb consists of two visual and semantic units. In the first theme, young artists grapple with and interpret the symbol of the cross; in the second visual context, they show the emptiness, the endlessness of a landscape without a human figure that we cannot interpret as either abandoned or its uncertain destined mise-en-scene and existence is to come., The elements of landscapes painted with dense materiality are almost abstract.
